The position is focused 50 or more on component DMSMS and requires professional experience in that area. In addition the position requires an engineer with a solid theoretical and practical background in electrical engineering who is adaptable to a wider range of tasks and able to function effectively in an engineering resource role within a matrix organization. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Utilizing and searching various data resources such as GIDEP, aftermarket manufacturers, brokerages, online and internal databases, to mitigate and find solutions to Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) issues on COTS (commercial off the shelf) parts. Reviewing, analyzing, and reporting risks of suspected counterfeit components. Preparation of Bill of Material (BOM) for upload into obsolescence analysis tools. Sourcing electronic components for existing and new products, packages and electronic subassemblies. Researching, developing, designing or selecting components for product improvements. Providing electrical engineering support for commercial products, electrical design support for power conversion R D projects. Performing calculations and evaluations in the design of electrical equipment and systems for industrial and commercial applications. Understandinginterpreting existing electrical and general engineering documentation. Coordinating and directing others to modify documentation per customermanufacturing needs. Cooperating with manufacturing team to find optimum Design for manufacturing solutions. Navigating through documentproduct management software (Windchill, IHS, SILICON EXPERTand SAP) to access required procedures and documents. Updating product documentation to reflect design changes. Prepare BOE s and schedule input to Program Office for new projects and increments of funding. Creating and successfully presenting ECRsECNs for technical review. Traveling to manufacturing facility to provide engineering support. Ability in identifying and analyzing critical issues and recommending technical approaches to address DMSMS issues. Ability to accomplish assigned tasks and projects in support of achieving program objectives. JOB QUALIFICATIONS (Required) Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows six or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, four or more years of experience with a masters degree, or two or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education. Must have Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS)Obsolescence experience. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance preferred. Experience with BOM obsolescence analysis tools. Fluency in electrical and electronic documentation standards. Must have printed Circuit Board (PCB) design and manufacturing experience. Ability to troubleshoot electronics issues using scientific principles. Early design involvement (EDI) experience needed. Experience in a hardware manufacturing environment, supporting and sustaining manufacturing engineering. Capability to represent the organization as a prime technical contact and, lead a team of moderately experienced professional employees on single component or assembly projects. Ability to work in a high pressure and deadline oriented environment. Preferred Qualifications Ability to organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases in cooperation with Program Office, Configuration and Engineering management. Able to work extended hours as required. Familiarity and experience with sourcing issues for electronic and mechanical components. Thorough understanding of surface mount (SMT) manufacturing equipment, processes and electronic component packages. Experience with directing the activities of electronic designers and technicians. Complete understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties. Ability to develop and communicate new concepts apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems. Strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team able to perform complex tasks in one or more engineering areas.
